AVAAZ.ORG - MARCH 2016 - PETITION
AN
OCEAN WITHOUT PLASTIC:
MARCH 8 2016 17:44 GMT - At this point the campaign has been running for a shade over two days, in which time 31,464 people generously urged us to go forward with SeaVax. Bluebird Marine Systems say that they cannot thank everyone enough for their support.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CALL IS NOW CLOSED. BLUEBIRD MARINE SYSTEMS LOOK FORWARD TO RECEIVING YOUR DONATIONS TO ENABLE THEM TO GET TO THE NEXT STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT.
Avaaz.org is an independent, not-for-profit global campaigning organization that works to ensure that the views and values of the world's people inform global decision-making.
MARCH 21 2016 21:04 GMT - At this point the campaign has been running for a shade over fifteen days in which time, as you can see from the above snapshot, at least 50,041 people generously gave to enable Bluebird Marine Systems to develop their SeaVax and SeaNet concept. Bluebird Marine Systems are overjoyed at the response to the call, but have no idea how much has been donated because of the variables, at the time of publication (22-3-16). We are following this story and will update this page when we learn more.
Avaaz is a global civic organization launched in January 2007 that promotes activism on issues such as climate change, human rights, animal rights, corruption, poverty, and conflict; it works to "close the gap between the world we have and the world most people everywhere want." The organization operates in 15 languages and claims over forty million members in 194 countries, and The Guardian considers it "the globe's largest and most powerful online activist network"
FUNDING PROCESS and MANAGEMENT
"Since 2009, Avaaz has not taken donations from foundations or corporations, nor has it accepted payments of more than $5,000 (£3,100),"
The Guardian
reports. "Instead, it relies simply on the generosity of individual members, who have now raised over $20m (£12.4m)."

INNOVATION - This amazing autonomous boat was on display at the Old Billingsgate exhibition centre in London on the 9-10th of November 2015. The stand was especially made for this show. As you can see it is possible to tilt the robot vessel so that it is almost vertical. The stand is motorised to revolve at about one revolution in half a minute. The boat is designed to vacuum plastic waste from the polluted oceans and rivers (RiverVax) of the world. Not at this scale. This proof of concept model is only 2.2 metres long. The full size vessel is 44 metres long with a suction head some 13.5 metres wide (44 feet) - making it the world's largest vacuum cleaner.
